Did you know that you can have a zoo adventure in the winter? Turtle Back Zoo is open throughout the cold months and has plenty to see and do, even if it’s snowing or raining!
The zoo regularly hosts special events with seasonal flair. Just some of the ongoing events this holiday season include the Holiday Lights Spectacular, which runs through January 2, and Storytime with Mrs. Claus, which lasts until December 23.
Animal exhibits at the zoo get you up-close-and-personal with species from all over the world. Immerse yourself in their various habitats and understand these amazing animals on a whole new level.
The zoo is a great place to visit during any season. In winter, animal exhibits you can visit include the red panda, arctic wolves, and Scottish Highland cattle – all of which are most active in the cold. There are also lots of indoor exhibits to enjoy if the weather isn’t cooperating, including the Reptile Center and the Tropical Currents Aquarium.
Rent one of the zoo’s special areas for birthday parties or events! Rent the Carousel, the Gazebo, or a private picnic area, or rent a classroom for group instruction. Group rates apply to groups of 15 or more – for the off season, it’s $8 per person.
Skate on the ice at the official training facility of the New Jersey Devils! This modernized ice arena is a great place to enjoy a winter afternoon.
